Installing Chandeliers

When installing a chandelier that is going to be supported by a fixture stud and hickey mounted through an octagonal box, does the box need to match the rating of the weight of the chandelier? The #8 or #10 screws with the octagon box will not support the chandelier since it will be supported by the fixture stud

No the box does not need to be rated to support the fixture if it is not bearing the weight.

Is the stud secured independent of the box? If not, I’d say equal or greater support rating on the box is needed. I use fan support boxes in areas where I know there could potentially be a large chandelier.
