Hello, I was asked to come out to add a 120v outlet in a warehouse. When I went out to see the job they had a powerstrip plugged into an extension cord that ran up approx 35' over a beam then it ran over approx 25' and back down to a wall outlet. He said the fire marshall came in and said to get rid of the extension cord. He uses this power to supply (2) computers, printer, fax, radio etc. along with whatever else is connected to it...The panel is about 50' away so I planned on installing a 20amp breaker, running 1/2" conduit up to the ceiling, over approx 50' to a 4x4 j-box. then ???, The drop cords hang aprox 25" from the ceiling, I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to install these drop cords or to supply power to this unwalled office in middle of the warehouse.??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

How about a piece of Unistrut running up from the office area? It is listed as a raceway if you use the snap in covers.

I do a lot of those drops and what bd has a link to is pretty cool. They could come in real handy especially ina manufacturing application where they have to move equipment around a lot. How is the cost on them, box $5.00 and the wire is $1000.00? I just checked on wire prices today. my goodness. 12/2 romex is close to $500.00 / 1000ft. And now it begins...inflation.

How about somthing like THIS

They are listed for the purpose.

Exactly the right part. Don't forget the cord grip at the top. You'll need it to keep the cord from being pulled out of the box.
Woodhead also makes those, also Hubbel (Kellums).
