I was looking over this thread:
https://forums.mikeholt.com/threads/demand-factor-for-16-water-heater.37549/
And was interested if there was any change to this way of thinking. We work federal contracts so we are on 2023. We have this one contract where they requested instant water heaters. Thanks to temp rise requirements we are looking at 33kW of water heaters for this project for 4 instants (8.3kW each), 208V. It is eating up a good bit of my 400A incoming service. We can use some engineering judgment but I prefer to have something to stand on. The gov being the gov likes to minimize critical thinking and will see "kitchen" and fight about it but I think it is reasonable to apply this, though during lunchtime, I could also see them on and off, sometimes together. I think the NEC needs to expand upon this a bit more.
Wondering what others are doing in these instances.
Let's not even talk about emergency eyewash/shower combos with instants....
Thanks
