Insulated Throat Connectors

I am bidding a job that requires all EMT to have these. What is "insulated throat" and why is it used? It is a sanitation garage. Thanks.

It's a little plastic bushing inside the thread part of the conector. It keeps the wiring from getting scuffed.

Every connector I've seen in the past 20 years has them.

It must be an old cut and pasted note. I saw prints just last year that specified Challenger equipment :roll:

We've used them instead of bushings on large EMT connectors. Throat pulls out 95% of the time when the nose of the wire comes through the pipe.
