insulating bushing on emt connectors required?

Is it a requirement to provide an insulating bushing for 1/2" non-insulated EMT connectors, #12AWG THHN into 4" square boxes. I have only been able to find that requirement for IMC and Rigid, not EMT, and my wire size is much smaller than the #4 requirement in 300.4. The fittings I bought do not have enough threads for the bushing to grab. So, It seems that the EMT fittings do not require any bushing, but clarification would be a great help.
