Local apartment complex is asking me to bid for an infrared test on panels.
They finally sent me the documents from insurance company.
It says to infrared all aluminum wiring. For range and dryers. Connections must be torqued annually ….

Torque annually Seems dump if it’s torqued right It would not need to be done.
Going to call insurance agent and see if I splice them and put copper on breakers if that gets ride of there annual check.

That annual check going to kill there pocket book

A connection should only be torqued once. The only proper way to re-torque is to cut the terminated portion of the wire off, strip the insulation off then torque the new connection.

All modern circuit breakers, range/dryer receptacles are listed for aluminum wire. I don't see what adding copper tails would do.

Requirements like this are going to lead to more fires not less.

The insurance companies just keep finding ways to cancel policies.

There is guidance for this:

NFPA70B
7.2.1.4.1
When using a calibrated torque wrench to confirm the torque of previously installed threaded hardware, the retightening value shall not exceed 90 percent of the manufacturer’s specified initial torque value.
