Interconnected Smokes

i was at a contractor/ahj meeting the other night.
smokes came up in the conversation. apparently there is a smoke available that are hardwired, will will talk to each other without the 3rd red wire. so these can be installed on different floors in a home and signal all to alarm. has anyone heard of these.

I am not a fan of wireless devices in fire systems, we find these units dead and not working all the time, in my opinion it is playing with fire, ok for a handyman job, but not a professional install.

I agree, I have seen guys use batery powered because they forgot a wire They should be fired

If it was new construction, the inspector should catch it and deny the CofO.

the ones I am looking at are AC powered and were recommended by the AHJ
