Just wondering if anyone has any input on the following:

I am working on the construction of a retail space in Chicago and the electrician has informed me that the City of Chicago will not allow us to Interconnect multiple lights with factory supplied connectors unless the lights are low voltage. Is he correct and where in the code can I find the reason for this?

Does this apply to lights that come factory wired and just plug in to an outlet?

Please advise

A. Definitely find out before doing the work. You don't want to risk having to do it twice.

2. Ask for an NEC or local code section; they can't expect you to comply with rules you can't read.

D. Don't be afraid to ask the inspector questions. They're happy to help those who want to "do it right."

The city of Chicago does in fact have it's own electrical code.
I know that, which is why I said "... or local ..."

I'm just saying it must be documented somewhere accessible to the OP in order to be enforced.
