Those of you who do residential repairs probably see stuff like this everyday, but first time I've seen it:

Unused (except for some meetings) house owned by church. Was asked to look at why a receptacle sometimes was live when room light was on, and othertimes when only when the light was off.

In the distant past, (NM with a 14ga ground provided dating) the outlet was added and fed from the traveller of a 3-way switch !
Was a mystery to most folks, gremlins in the wall or some such.
 
If you change 3 way switches to maestro multilocation dimmers (or switches) you will get a permanent hot wire in both switch boxes. One traveler will be communication wire between blue terminals on devices and the other traveler your constant hot.
I did that recently. The next guy who will change devices will get a call back :roll:
