Interesting phone call/ lead

I received a call the other day to go look at a service change. The interesting thing about the call was when I was asking the woman where she got my name/ number. She said "You probably don't remember me but a few years ago you helped me put something in my car in the Home Depot parking lot. We started talking and you gave me a card. You were so nice that day that I held on to your card in case I ever needed electrical work."

It goes to show that you never know where the next one is going to come from. It kind of made me feel good that I made that kind of impression on someone. It's good to get feedback.

Hopefully she still likes you after you go over labor rates:)

America is lacking men. Men who help others expecting nothing in return, and Men who admit when they are wrong. Good Job!

Hey, I don't mind helping if the price is right and I've never been wrong, but other than that I'm still an American man.

Good job! and you are so right, I try to remind my kids to treat everyone with respect, because you don't always know who you're talking to.

I've brought it up here before and got beat down about it, but show up on a service call and it's only a tripped breaker, reset it, give them a card and tell them have a nice day. On three or four different jobs that I'd done that, I can't tell you how many thousands of dollars I made later.

I have done the same thing, most of the time the people would not let me leave with out giving me something.
I once did some work for a couple who I knew going into the job could not afford the work. It was winter time, on the weekend and at night and the disco for the heat had melted. There was no way I was going to leave them and their kids without heat. About two weeks later I got a call from the guys boss who owned the company he worked for. Landed at $38,000.00 conduit job that was a walk in the park.

And some people won't bother with a 'little' $200 job that may lead to more work.

Amen to that brother. I never could figure out the "it's not worth starting my truck if I'm not making at least $500". I once replaced a light fixture at a company that no one else would even return his calls and ended up working there for almost two years.:)

You guys are renewing my faith in mankind.
