I have a project that involves communication between a Creston system and a LiteTouch system.

The processors involved are:

Crestron Pac 2

LiteTouch 5000 LC

Does any one know if these two systems can talk to each other?

Chris, depends on the dimming system communications protocol.

I work with AMX (Crestron's competitor) and AMX can communicate via serial data, IR emitter emulation and DMX (The theatrical protocol).

I'm willing to bet that Crestron can do the same, I am sure it will at least do serial data and IR.

You will need the services of an experienced Crestron programmer to get things talkin.

We are only doing the line voltage wiring. The electrician and GC on the job are questioning the compatibility of the 2 systems. The programmer seemed less than confident at the first meeting, but came back today and said no problem. When we found out who told him this would work, we realized it came from a source of previous misinformation.

GC wants to be sure before any more money is invested in this. Existing home has 11 LiteTouch panels and we are adding 2 Cresttron panels.

As always I thank you.

There is a Lite touch users forumn that I can post your question on. I have attended lite touch training but am not up to speed in the integration of the two

LOL DUH Larry. :D

Now the important thing (to the programmer anyways) is to get the list of RS-232 commands for the Lite Touch system and how it likes to see those commands sent. :)

Does that mean "yes"?

It means probably.

There is an unlikely possibility that the RS232 sockets on the LiteTouch can only be used to control something else, rather than be used by something else to control the LiteTouch. That would be, for your application, "unfortunate".

To be sure, someone has to go read some manuals :)

Before posting this thread, I read all information available to me. Did I find it odd that no documents said:

'Should the event arise you need to communicate with other manufactures systems...'

Not at all, they want you to buy more of their products. I appreciate all the help here, but I have to go to the table with this tomorrow and from what I see I have a big fat maybe.:D

Thanks again for all the help.
