I am installing a security system in our shop. the electrical inspector came through and would like me to move my junction boxes at the over head doors to 18" and says that my magnetic switch that i was going to use on those doors will not meet the intrinsically safe wiring.
I do not understand why if it is a low voltage system the height of the box makes any difference(they are about 6" off ground becuase I am splicing to a switch with an 18 inch lead. witch has to reach over to the door.(mounts on floor))
and how do I know the specifactions for requirements in the shop for it to be Intrinsically Safe Wiring?
