I am trying to power a sump pump (tests at 5.96 running amps, 11.27 inrush when plugged into AC) with a 1200/2400 surge inverter. I can hear the motor want to try to start but the inverter error light & alarm immediately kick in. I believe sump pumps don't need pure sine wave inverters (I have a whistler 1200i) and the size seems to be sufficient... obviously I'm missing something. Any thoughts?
