No manufacturing involved at all, unless it's concerning the plant electricians.

There's a great deal of debate in the Board concerning certification of current licensees. With every county, city, village, burrough, and hamlet with different licensing requirements, it's turning into a quagmire.

Personally, I see two options for the board:

1. Everyone retests no matter what. That will be as well-received as a fart in an elevator.
2. Wave a magic wand over everyone who is currently licensed, click your heels together and say, "There's no license like a state license....there's no license like a state license...."

I think option 2 would be the best. Just have everyone sign a statement that their experience or current license is proof enough of their ability to do the job. The statement would be backed up by fraud and truth clauses that provide for fines, imprisonment, cancellation of license, or a combination of any of the three.

That's the law's mandate.

But I think I've got a better chance of winning the PowerBall than they have of making that deadline. 2008 is only 6 weeks away, and you've got two (OK, three) major holidays in between, plus, this being Iowa, we could easily take a couple more days out for bad weather. They're already talking about instituting emergency rules to tide them over until they can get their ducks in a row.
