Looking for outdoor enclosure for fountain pump controller, need with hinged for access to control unit adjustment. Haven't found any NEMA rated but have found a number with IP67 rating, not sure of use under nec, IP67 exceeds standards of NEMA3 (min that would need for location). Any knowledge of use of IP rating under the code.

IP67 is not automatically suitable for outdoor use. Outdoor use means it must withstand the rigors of corrosion, sunlight resistance, icing, snow loads, internal condensation etc. All of that is in the Type 3R specification as well as 4 and 4X, but IP67 is an indoor spec regarding dust (6) and water (7) ingress protection. An IP67 enclosure MIGHT ALSO be rated for outdoor use IF the manufacturer says so (and you trust them). But generally I've found that if an enclosure being sold here does NOT also have a UL Type rating, like 3R, 4, 4X, etc., then it's probably not listed at all, and that may be a problem in some jurisdictions.

many IP67 boxes are made of aluminum and are UL listed as various types.

I don't know why exactly, but many of the IPxx plastic boxes that are UL listed seem to be IP65 but are also listed as Type 4 and 4X, but not 3 or 3R.

But that could just be me having a small sample set.
