IPGSM-4G dialer with intermittent comm failure

My company has installed a few IPGSM-4G dialers in a group of buildings. Intermittently we are getting comm failure troubles. Enough that the property management wants answers. The 3G/4G reception is full bars. The 2G reception is showing that we are only connecting to a single tower. I myself do not have much experience with these cellular dialers. I saw that there was some issues in the past with firmware causing comm failures that required a power cycle of the dialer. This doesnt seem to be the case as the dialer eventually works again on its on without need for a power cycle. I was wondering if the 2G part of the dialer path, being that it only connects to one tower in that area could be the cause? Tech support told me its possible, but wasn't very forthcoming with information. The issues come and go, maybe once every two weeks for each dialer in the complex. Any help would be appreciated, or if anyone could point me in the right direction. Internet seems sparse with info on these dialers. Also, is there any way to disable 2G transmission on these dialers?

Where is the management company getting their COMM FAIL notification? From the fire panel, from the central station or both? That can usually narrow your search. Have you reviewed history in the fire panel and from the central station?

Have you talked to tech support at AlarmNet (800 222-6525)? They deal with communication from the site to the central station.

Not surprised at the dearth of 2G sites. The original sunset date was 1/1/17, but it appears Verizon and T-Mobile have extended 2G carriage to 2019 and 2021 respectively.

2G cell service was turned off 1.1.17 by AT&T and no you can't turn it off. You can tell if it has more than one tower using the leds and buttons and if it's adequate strength.

What is the CID code?

This is not the known firmware issue, it wouldn't reconnect if it was.

I'm suspect that you have any 2G signal at this point, could be a bad radio. Also if the signal turns out to be actually poor there are UL complaint antenna extensions

If it's still a problem change it out to a Napco SLE GSM or CDMA radio--- much easier to use if you can get aux power and a spare point to monitor
