Is "backbone" a recognized term in the trade for this?

I'm referring to a lighting circuit where there are no other loads other than lights. I refer to the set of all cables between switch boxes that provide a constant hot/neutral power source. I call that the "backbone" of the lighting circuit. Is that a recognized term in the trade for this? If not, what is the proper name for it (if there is one)?

Never heard of the term "backbone" used in that context. It is used in the computer network infrastructure world.
