Re: Is license a open book test.

To: ka3vvv, taking the exam depends on what area or state that you are in. You did mention Pa.
I am teaching electricians that are going to take the exam. I teach at Delaware Technical & Community College, Stanton Campus. We are using Mike Holt's text, "Electrical Exam Preparation".
It is my opinion that it is helpful to do the studying in a classroom setting.
Experion is the company that makes up the exam, and also gives the exam in our area. There are certain rules and regulations that you need to be aware of, such as calculator, code-book, etc.
If you want to contact me, you may call me and we can discuss this further.

In Washington State you can take any copyrighted text into the test with you. But if you don't know the material the texts won't help. Washington state uses Laser Grade to deliver its tests.

Do you really need the Philly license?
The surrounding townships will accept it, but some also have their own exam which is easier to obtain. (The City will not it turn accept these)

Hopefully PA is not long off from having a statewide license. But I suspect that the cities will still require their seperate license.
