We installed a generator yesterday and put the Service rated 200 amp breaker transfer switch between the POCO's meter and the service panel inside the house. Removing the wires from the interior panels main breaker the lugs were stripped and we could not get them to retighten. We removed breaker and installed main lugs to get the power back on. Is the service rated disconnect in the transfer switch outside all I need? I am having a hard time finding the correct breaker the ones I know are correct are out of stock and I need to call on the others but they are all over $400 from breaker jockeys. It is a old SQ D panel that narrower and shorter than any new panel. A complete change out may not be possible because of the height and what it is mounted above.
