Is MC Plenum Rated

We are doing a custom hood that will have recessed lighting inside it. The only way to power these lights is running the power through the plenum. Is MC plenum rated? I looked through 330 but did not see plenums mentioned.

Are you talking about a range hood? Commercial or residential?

There should be somewhere to hide the feed. Is the entire support the exhaust duct itself?

That's acceptable according to Infinity's link. Cooking exhaust ducting is something else.

Yes it is outside. The hood is about 4' x 9' in size. The entire support structure is built as a plenum. There is a barbecue and pizza oven below.

So your "plenum" is really a grease duct, isn't it.

I ended up installing a conduit sleeve through the plenum and running the MC through it.

Well NEC was the only code I had much confidence in my knowledge of, other codes I wasn't that sure about.

I don't see anything that specifically addresses wiring or devices under kitchen hoods or in ventilation ducts, even commercial. Shouldn't the inside of a grease duct be a classified location?

Why? Gasoline has low ignition temp vapors, and risk of explosive ignition, grease from cooking isn't like that.

Diesel doesn't create classified location, grease from cooking is more like diesel than gasoline.
