My question is are we allowed to run PVC after the conduit emerges from the ground\ classified area at the building on a fuel dispensing facility.
Article 501.30 has been iterpreted in our area as stating that the conduit has to be metalic to satisfy the bonding requirements. I do not see it this way --article 511.7 and 514.7 covers this in my opinion ---stating non metallic conduit is permissible.
Question #2 --how is the bonding at the dispenser--exhibit 514.3 pg. 784 in the 2008 handbook different from the bonding at the wireway\point of conduit emergence from the ground---are they not one in the same?
I agree that the conduits (if metal )entering the wireway(point of emergence from the ground) have to have bonding bushings-or other approved methods , however I can not find anything stating is is required to be metalic .

That's my point--the point where the conduit comes out of the ground is more than 20' away from the dispensers--so i say Pvc is allowed, The inspector here keeps refering to 501.30---bonding requirements for his interpretation of requiring metalic conduit---Am I wrong?

If the conduit is bonded at the feed point, I'd say your fine. You can run pvc the entire underground install as longs as you comply with 514.8 and 515.8.

Maybe some ones else will jump in here and give their .02
