Hi all,

Has anyone working in jersey installed a residential service (overhead) on a driveway side of the house for PSEandG

From the meter down to basement.

Looking at utility specs. they mention conduit or emt or approved.

Is sch. 40 ok or should I use sch. 80 or metal.

May be a inspector question, but it's going in tomorrow or monday....

Any Jerseyian experience helpful.

Thanks
Rich

I don't know about PSE&G but IMO according to the NEC a driveway would require Sch80 PVC, EMT or RMC.

This EMT didn't hold up too well!
I don't think PVC, EMT and cable hold up too well in a driveway when it gets hit.
A nice big steel and concrete Ballard works the best.

Thank you for the relies.
Looking around my area, it appears
That most driveway side conductors
Are protected in sch 40, emt, rigid.
Not to chance a redo. I'll stay clear
of the 40.

Thank you.

If subject to physical damage then Sch40 is not permitted. It's a judgement call on the part of the inspector since the term is not defined by the NEC. If I were installing it in a driveway or inspecting it Sch40 would be NG.

No sch 80 - 90's ( well they have the wide sweep 3' ones, but I doubt the owner wants the panel a foot or two off the wall :- ) ...) nor lb's.

Also metal lb's are malleable or rigid.

EMT with a 90 is what it will be.....thanks guys
