Does the NEC require conduits to be secured to the ground before rock is installed on top or concrete slab is poured. Also is there any requirement for spacing conduit apart per the NEC?

The inspector in our area is requiring PVC conduits to be secure to the ground by staking and requiring spacing between the conduits. The PVC conduits are installed on top of compacted rock and another 6" of (minus) rock will be installed on top of the conduits before the floor slab is poured. All the PVC conduits are 1" or 3/4".

Does 2008 & 2011 NEC article 352.30 apply to under slab conduits?

Thanks

Wow. I don't think we have ever staked the pipes down, other then where they come up in the wall.

May have been doing that wrong.

I would think 300.5 would be the right section to cover under/ gravel installations

None of these sections require the PVC to be strapped to the earth or staked down before the concrete is poured.

It is is a good practice so they don't float to the top of the slurry. But it sounds like the OP has dirt on top before the slurry gets poured.
