ARticle 310.10(E) notes " . . . solid dielectric insulated conductors operated above 2000 volts in permanent installations shall have ozone-resistant insulation and shall be shielded." I have an old 2.4kV 3-wire delta installation that requires some cable upgrades. The existing cable is non-shielded 5 kV. Conduit size may be a problem to re-install shielded 5kV cable. Does this NEC section intend to say 2000 Volts Phase-to-Phase (which would require I use shielded cable) or 2000 Volts Phase to Ground (which will float to approximately 1386 Volts to-ground and permit the reinstallation of non-shielded cable)?
