Is shrink the same on a kick as a offset?

Let's say you bend a 30 degree offset 5 inches. So your second mark is ten inches for the first mark. So shrink will be 2 1/4 inches.

So if I bend a ninety, then from the back of that ninety measure over 10 inches and mark it. Then that mark is placed at the front of the shoe, and bend it to thirty degrees. Will it be five inches high, and shrink 2 1/4 inches? I hear that because its a kick, it's only half the shrink of a offset. Also I hear you want to put the mark at center of bend mark on shoe, not at the front of the shoe. Thank you for your help.

In my eyes "shrink" or shrinkage refers to how much shorter the conduit will be after bending an offset. If you started with a 10' length of EMT and bend your 5" offset you would end up with an overall length of 9' xx". The difference between that number and 10' would be your shrinkage. For a 5", 30? offset I would guess that it would be less than 2.25".

I would think that a kick of the same 30? would have less shrinkage since you're only making one bend.
