Is the output red signal wire from a hardwire smoke detector AC or DC voltage?

I am looking to use this output wire to connect a string of heat detectors throughout a horse stable and also run a 120v fire alarm beacon and bell on the side of the stable for external notification. From what I know that red signal wire has a low current 9volt output however I do not know if it is AC or DC voltage.

The idea was to run this output from the first connected detector to two relays with 9volt coils, one of them would have a 9volt output transformer connected to it to boost the signal to the rest of the heat detectors, the other would use the 9volt signal input to send 120v to the beacon and the bell so that they would energize when an alarm is triggered.

I believe this circuit will work depending on if the output is AC or DC, does anybody know for sure?

Check with your detector manufacturer (web-site,etc). Almost all of them have an interface that is designed for that purpose.
(My experience is that the signal is such that a transistor circuit or electronic relay is needed)
