To change from different size conduitsAre you talking about reducers to change to a different size conduit, or just the fittings?
Well, we have them outside too.Generally, if it’s “in a plant” no need to be waterproof.
Rigid conduit couplings are not even remotely close to being waterproof. Any fitting listed for use with rigid conduit will be fine in a wet location.Generally, if it’s “in a plant” no need to be waterproof.
You are correct. You can sink an RE out of sight into a coupling.Rigid conduit couplings are not even remotely close to being waterproof. Any fitting listed for use with rigid conduit will be fine in a wet location.
Never seen one of those.
The plant I worked at a lot used those to transition from 4" underground to 2" above ground for their fire alarm and communications conduits...in some cases the reducing coupling was below the poured floor in the electrical room
This was a job we did running power and GEC up the outside of a ten-story apartment building for a roof-top cellular site. I removed (and sold) the abandoned service wires and used the existing conduits, which saved us from having to bore through two feet of concrete foundation into the basement.
We used these to transfer from underground larger diameter pvc to smaller diameter surface level EMT and it was intriguing the first time I did this while wiring up an inside labHi, I was wondering if there was any code restrictions for RE's. I see them everywhere in my plant. I think they look like you know what. They don't seem waterproof. Your thought on using them? Thank you for your help.
