is this an unusual label on a new breaker?

This is a new Siemens 2-30 circuit breaker.

Is it common to have murray labels on siemens breakers? I know they're interchangeable, i just haven't seen it before. Seems like someone posted some pics like this a year or two ago.

I checked the other breakers on the shelf and this was the only one i found w/ the murray label.

I'm not surprised. Identical breakers made on the same assembly line. Someone must have loaded the labeling machine wrong.

you can't see it in the picture, but the label had the name of the manufacturing facility on it. it was somewhere in metro atlanta as i remember.

why do you suppose they still have murray labels anyway? is anything still being manufactured (besides the obvious here) under that name?

Most of the HD's and supply houses in my area carry Murray stuff. As for the labeling, it basically GMC vs. Chevrolet. Functionally identical with some minor differences.

I thought the Siemens/Murray stuff was made in Mexico?

I have no idea. But i'm positive it listed a town in gwinnett county as the place it was manufactured. Maybe that was just an office address.

really? i did not know that.

so is it just breakers, or are they still selling equipment under the murray name?

none of the suppliers i deal with carry anything under the murray name.

maybe its a regional thing.

Take many Siemens residential and commercial products, take off the Siemens name and change it to Murray, and you have the Murray product line.

It it not as broad and extensive as Siemens, but there is much crossover.

Siemens owns/makes Murray. When I asked a Siemens rep. about it, he said they were interchangeable.
If you look at the Combination AFCI breaker, it's the same whether Siemens or Murray. I believe they hold the patent for the LEDs that indicate what the fault was.
On a side note, I think those LED indicators are a neat feature. They hold their indication for 30? days (even after the breaker has been reset). That helps with the trouble shooting.

Murray equipment, panels, breakers, etc are as readily available in this area as they have always been.
