Hello... I am not sure if this is the proper forum to post this question in but it seemed like the most appropriate.
Anyways, I'd like to get into the electrical trade but I'm wondering if it is right for me. I worked for about two years with a handyman doing all sorts of jobs and familiarizing myself with many different aspects of residential construction and how to operate lots of different tools and different tricks of various trades. The one that always interested me the most was electrical.
The reason I'm wondering if I can make it in this trade is that I am a pretty quiet/shy guy. Working in my past job I wasn't working around any other employees really. Was just me and the boss, and he was kinda quiet himself so it worked out well. I recently applied for a trade school and selected commercial for the type of work I was interested in. (I prefer EMT to NM!) The paperwork said the need for commercial work was high, as opposed to residential which is moderate. I'm wondering if residential would be better suited for someone like me.
Any insight into what it is like in this industry as far as residential vs. commercial would be appreciated...
Thanks
