Is WAC saying to just splice in the wall.

Looks and reads like figure 1 is saying splice in the wall cavity?...

I think they are saying to put the splice inside the light fixture itself, but it's very poorly worded.

"dweLED" is not an OEM brand with confirmed NRTL listing. Neither is "829-Wall Sconce"

May be a knock off, or counterfeit of some high-end product line.

That cut sheet said tuck the wires into the wall.
The way the pics show the wires coming from the vack, I'm guessing there's not enough space inside the fixture for makeup

But the slim j-box would be the way to go

WAC lighting is legit, they were using dweled as a brand but looks like they deprecated it. These fixtures are ETL listed, however they seem to be discontinued.
