Im pretty certain that im right about this but ill ask anyway. in addition to the required receptacles on a kitchen island, can you have additional receptacles where the over hang is more then 6 inches i say not permitted no matter what

My read is that you are allowed to have them but they do not count as countertop receptacles.
In fact, 210.52(A)(2) seems to indicate you might need them as "wall" outlets,.

Interesting I was starting to read and think that myself anybody else ?

Why not.... I can have receptacles wherever I want as long as I have the required receptacles to cover the area in question.

There is one "pop-up" type that is listed for use in countertops, but it is pricey and takes space below the countertop.

Why is an island outlet under an overhang a problem? I use mine all the time for the vacuum. I don’t use it for the appliances because I have an outlet closer to the other edge of the island. Should you be allowed to have an outlet on the island under an over hang with no other island outlets, no. I’ve been to houses where there are extension cords everywhere. Sometimes the code reminds be of political correctness over common sense

I just heard this tooo... 2020 wanted more Island receptacles for the NY open loft type occupancys and now 2023 the complete opposite...optional.

But still need to hit the island with outlet and blank plate in 2023
The language I saw stops short of saying that....just provisions must be made for a future receptacle outlet. That could be a spare NM stubbed into the cabinet, a raceway stubbed into the cabinet, of where the area below is accessible, you don't need to do anything.
