Re: isolated ground
It is an Equipment Grounding Conductor (EGC) that runs from the equipment, via any intervening sub-panels, back to the main panel, as a separate conductor. It is not allowed to connect to any ground bar in any sub-panel, but must run all the way to the main in isolation from every other grounding path. It will run in the same conduit as other EGCs, but it will not be connected to any other EGC.
An isolated ground is intended to provide a ?cleaner? ground path for sensitive electronic equipment. I am made to understand that its importance is not as high as it had been some years ago, but I am not into electronics. Someone else may have a better answer.
