Does code really require to have isolation panels in OR, Cath and similar sugery wet area? Or we only put them in for patient safety and use for wet location? One of the owner raises this question because he concerns cost for isoltaion panels vs. others. Thanks!

As far as the NFPA is concerned, Isolation Power Systems are not required anywhere, they are optional.

Local and state codes would be the determinig factor.

Give NEC 2008 517.20. Basically, you have to answer 2 questions to determine if iso panels are required. 1st question: is it a wet procedure location, 2nd can the loss of power be tolerated? .
