I don't know when PVC raceways were introduced, but I don't recall seeing any used on original wiring installed before about 1975 or so, leading me to think anything 50 years or older likely won't have PVC raceway.

Thank you guys for the replies. Temporarily I am bypassing the circuit conductors with SO cord and see if the breaker will hold.

I know I had seen it at the shop so I looked for it, it is a PASAR amprobe advance tracer. The documentation actually shows pole lights and locating a ground fault or open underground. Maybe you can get your hands on one.
