Can we support mc cable to floor pedestal even if they’re not grounded? I previously worked in a data center and they wouldn’t allow us to support to them even though they were grounded.

Computer room floors usually have a forest of pedestals on a 2' x 2' grid. Ours also has rails from pedestal to pedestal. Our floor is only about a foot deep. At our disaster site, the floor is about 4' deep.

Most computer room floors are grounded/bonded. And the 2' x 2' tiles have a metal underside, and either a conductive rubber strip or metal edging that makes contact with the supports.

Attaching things to the pedestals depends on the manufacturer's instructions. The only thing attached to ours is a bonding wire here and there, and some smoke/fire detectors (and their wiring. Everything else is on the floor (along with some rather impressive dust bunnies!).

If you were to mount steel channel to the floor, you would not bond that separately either, would you? The pedestals can support the cable as long as your contract (job specs) allow for it.

Sometimes if the floor is carrying air, the HVAC guys don't like it if you block airflow, so keep that in mind.
