So I get a call from an insurance agent customer of mine and she says she has a customer who needs a a panel cover installed to a panel for insurance purposes. I say 'no problem, how tough could it be', Holy crap.....1st of all the panel is installed inside a kitchen corner cabinet in the basement and a complete code violation. 2nd it's an ITE cover that's god knows how old......No one seems to care about the panel behind a cabint... just that it has no cover.
The panel is so old I can't see any numbers on it..... AHHHHH! I hate these little stupid jobs.. They are always a pain in he ass for little to no $.

HOW CAN I FIND AN OLD ITE PANEL COVER?

If you know the size, a new one (Siemens) might fit. They haven't changed much over the years. There are also a lot of "previously owned" electrical dealers all around the country who might have one.

I've got one little service call right now to rewire a Chinese Enco lathe from 240 to 480 three phase. Pretty decent instructions in both languages laying out what needs to happen. Except one motor that powers the crossfeed table has the numbers rubbed off the motor wires. Now a simple job has turned into a big pain in the butt because I have to figure out how to identify motor leads using the battery and analog voltmeter method.

It's always the simplest jobs that seem to get blown way out of proportion.
