I believe they were called a Pushmatic. If the breaker tripped you would push it back in to reset. I saw my first one this week. Not sure how they turned the breaker on and off. Maybe push on and push off.

Correct,,,,,
Still available at about $25 for a SP., Douber that + for a 2 pole.
Lots of folks rate them close to Federal Pacific Stab-Lok.

that's one more than I've ever seen in person... Although I make up for with FPE stab-lok.

I don't know how many times that product line changed names, seen "Bulldog", "Gould" and "ITE" for certain. I believe ITE was the company that retired that line, probably sometime near 1980 give or take 3-5 years? ITE had same series of breakers that is still out there as Siemens QP line, and they probably thought that line was the better way to proceed with product development when they decided to retire the pushmatic line.

I don't think it was as bad as some think it was when it came to performance of the breakers.

"Bulldog", pushmatic line.

I've seen them here and there (actually also in large multi floor condos too) and have heard from several sources (opinions) that they're great breakers.......

just wanted to add, I've seen the King sq D breakers not trip.... also replaced burned out Sq. D Panel.......

LOL, thought I was the only one still saddled with old Bulldog panels. Mine are late 1940’s vintage. They have been relatively trouble free. Watch phasing as bus arrangement isn’t same as newer panels. All of mine are 3 phase 208/120.

I haven't seen one fail to trip.

I have seen some that won't reset, but have seen just about every "miniature breaker" out there have one that fails to reset at one time or another. Failing to trip is a much bigger issue then failing to reset.
