Who here has taken the LLE electricians exam in Tennessee? It is 40 questions long. I am curious how hard it is. The Unlimited NC exam is very hard IMO. I took it years ago and had to study like crazy to pass. I am curious if the Tennessee is difficult.

Just a little back ground I have my unlimited here in NC. I am also licensed in VA, SC, and GA. We do not want the Unlimited in Tennessee, the process is a pain. So we can take the LLE exam and be able to do the service work our commercial customer s need us to do.

Took it years ago when I needed the license. Took again last year to reacquaint myself with the test as an aid to classes I teach. Not the easiest of exams but should not be difficult considering the ones you have taken.
On the bright side it is not expensive.
40 questions, 130 min I did need to reference the NEC on most questions.
(I only missed one but I do teach NEC)

I haven’t dug into Tennessee but if it’s like the others don’t you have to still provide all documentation whether you reciprocate or not?
the reciprocation does little more than get you out of taking the trade exam only.

Business laws exam is a requirement on all of the states licensing (ones I’ve dealt with), and there isnt a way to get out of those.
one way is reciprocation, one way is start over..

So you provide all necessary documents both ways, take the business laws exam both ways, take the trade exam one way, don’t take the trade exam the other way.

To reciprocate my unlimited status Tennessee requires a financial statement prepared by a CPA. To get a LLE in Tennessee they do not require this. However your limited on how much you can do and where. For what we do this is all we need.

On my Evansville, Indiana masters, they didn’t require the business part, don’t know if that’s still true now. It was almost the same test as my Tallahassee Fl journeyman’s. My Michigan journeyman’s was a little different, and the test was above a bowling alley, so you got to hear people bowling strikes while you racked your brain! LOL!

I passed the TN LLE 18 years ago. I passed the TN CE 9 years ago. With the tests you have passed from those other states the LLE should be fairly easy. Lots of time and not many questions. I'm sure you are aware we are on the 2017. Have a great day.

The hardest questions were not electrically related, they were more of an OSHA or building code type. Example:
If a roof is 12' feet from the ground, how far away from the house should the bottom of the ladder be, and how high above the roof should the top of the ladder be?
If you know how to use a code book, the test is open book and you can look up answers.

No Ugly's allowed when I tested. Guess it depends on who's the test proctor is. I think it was PSI when I tested. You can go on the State's website and find out who the tester is and what is allowed.

I think it was Michigan, that supplied the code books for the test, because the didn’t want any marked up material and books.
NC was like that. You had to use their book, calculator, pencil. You couldn’t take anything in with you,

I had a friend tell me she wrote some equations and notes on page 666. She said the devil was in the details.
