Does anyone know of a "J" style hook that is approved for supporting inch and a quarter PVC electrical conduit? We need to attach to the underside of the floor joists in the crawl space of a 4-plex residential building and are prevented from attaching directly to the joists by low hanging duct work. The "J" hooks that plumbers use would be an ideal solution if any company makes one approved for this application.

Use whats called hanger iron it is perferated metal band strap nail one end to the joist and wrap the bottom end around pipe and use a 1/4x20 nut and bolt on the pipe end.Make as long as you want.

Lot cheaper and easier than 1/4" rod and menerlac straps.

Comes in rolls find at home depot.

Agree with Bennie.

There is more weight in a plumbing pipe than on an electrical conduit. It might not pass the "secured" test, whereas you can pull on it and pul it loose.

Re: "J" Hooks For PVC

Thanks to all that responded. What I'm getting from these comments is that plumbers "J" hooks or metal hanger strap have both been used by other electricians for this purpose. So, all I need to be concerned about in this situation is that the installation is solid enough to make the inspector happy.
Thanks

I don't think I have any relations in the Detroit area. Could be a fourth or fifth cousin though.
