Does the NEC mention anything about the spacing requirement between J-Hooks for low voltage cables?I couldn't find any...any thought for a good spacing practice. Thank you in advance...

Re: J-hooks spacing!!!

You might try the 8th paragraph of the wiring method your are working with such as 725.8 Mechanical Execution of Work (2005 NEC) this language is reasonable consistent throughout chapters 7 and 8 for low voltage and communication wiring. I must admit the support requirements are not necessarily specific but there appears to be a reasonable attempt to provide a safe installation.

Re: J-hooks spacing!!!

I don't think the NEC address's this specifically. This is a performance and specification issue. For category cabling and fiber optics it?s about not exceeding bend radius between hooks. Maximum spacing of hooks is typically about 4 feet. I typically would have them installed closer because I can?t stand that sag between hooks. Larger bundles may require closer spacing.

You can also look at EIA/TIA 569 "Pathways and Spaces" for this information. Should cover both spacing requirements for copper and fiber communications cables.
