J Hooks

I have a Generator installation that leaves no room to run Conduit or fasten to walls or Ceilings. I installed Caddy J Hooks hanging 6" below joists every 32". I installed my SER Cable (100 Amp) thru the hangers. I now need to run my control cable (1/2" Carflex) thru the caddy J Hooks. I used Cat 32, 2". I asked a friend who is also a Licensed Contractor and a B1 building official and he seems to think its fine considering the situation. The town I am doing this install is very technical and typically won't let anything slide. I just can't find where the J Hooks would be an approved NEC system for this install. There is plenty of head room and I am higher than the lowest duct............. Any advice would be appreciated....

The Caddy J hooks are only listed for Cat or fiber cable not for power cables, so you will have trouble from the start on that.

I realize that as silly as it is being J Hooks are a Great Product but what is an approved method of hanging SER or Romex for that fact? Obviously you wouldn't use a Minerlac strap on SER. Not enough room for cable tray. I am lost on this one, first time in 45 years. Running conduit out of the question. Juction box every 30' with no where to mount it.

This is where the code drives me NUTZ!! The J Hook is a Better install by so many ways. All that weight on a 3/16" Ring makes no sense. I may have a dozen with me when I go for inspection just to tell him, do you really want me to switch to these? It would take me all of an hour to swap out all 25.

How about plumbing J hooks? They should be rated for weight? I don’t believe there is anything in the code that requires supports or fastening to be listed for power.

J hooks support the cable, but do they secure it? Seems like the opening would be too loose to secure a cable unless you cable tie it into the J.

Tie wrap obviously the answer to securing. Conduit was not run due to the fact with all the bends Junction boxes would be required every 5', and again, no room for them to mount. Enough just getting SER and control thru the basement.
