Does the NEC requirel a switch close to a residential jacuzzi bathtub for disconnecting or safety. I can't seem to find such requirements, but I do know about the GFCI protection required.

As a side note, check with your state for any amendments to the NEC, Connecticut added this amendment :

(Amd) 680.73 Accessibility. Hydromassage bathtub electrical equipment shall be accessible without damaging the building structure or building finish. Ground-fault circuit-interrupter devices shall be located in a readily accessible location for testing purposes. Ground-fault circuit-interrupter devices shall not be installed within the enclosure of the hydromassage tub.

Welcome to the forum. The residential tubs with a motor under them need gfci as well as disconnect, so simple solution is gfci receptacle under tub. However, most tubs that I've done have a cover on the side of the tub thats a bear to get back on once it's off. So I use a regular receptacle underneath the tub for the motor cord and a blank faced gfci near the tub for the gfi protection. If the motor needs work the cover has to come off anyway, and the plug in the receptacle underneath by the motor takes care of the disconnect requirement.
