I went on a service call and found a electric cook top wired off a Jandy Pool panel. Is this legal to do?
Not familiar with the brand "Jandy Pool panel" A quick search was inconclusive. Is there proper OCPD for the cook top in the Jandy Panel ?
It is not clear whether the breakers that fit in the panel are standard branch and feeder breakers, but they might well be.Jandy/Aqualink panels. http://www.jandy.com/en/products/controls/system-components/power-centers/aqualink-power-center
I'm going with Dennis on this, I *suspect* they are not mfg rated for anything other than pool eqt (but havent researched it).

The instructions say specifically that the panel is not suitable for use as service equipment.
The instructions also say that is must be more than 5 feet from the pool, which is hard to do if you do not have a pool.
Nothing I saw implied that it could only serve pool equipment though.

Totally acceptable if the cooktop is installed on a floating raft and is used in the pool![]()

From what I remember the circuit breaker portion of the panel is rated for 125 amps so as ling as none of the Jandy relays are controlling the cook-top (in any way) you're ok. I don't think the Jandy control relays are rated for high amperage like that which would be needed for a cook-top.
