Do you have to have a molded screw shell for temp. lighting or can you use the old festoon lighting were you strip the romex and spread the conductors and twisted on top. I am being told by a GC they are illegal.

The one issue that may be a peoblem is the penetrating pin type sockets are (or used to be) listed for use with stranded conductors, this might be what the GC is talking about.
