Anyone do work in Jersey City, NJ? I am working on a few designs after the fact (original electrical engineer had a falling out with the architect). A couple of the projects are being denied by the department of buildings because they say they require a generator for multi-family occupancies per a "local ordinance". For the life of me I cannot find this anywhere.

Anyone have experience with this that may be able to point me in the right direction?

Sounds like a shirt-pocket rule to me. In NJ, if they deny your application they have to quote you a reason, chapter and verse. If they balk, call the DCA. They love an opportunity to put tin gods in their place.

Hmm, ok... You speak from experience I'm assuming? Where does it say that need to provide a reason, chapter, and verse? I am just looking for some ammo moving forward with this. Thanks..

They have a Construction Check List which includes the number for DCA. It's a Word document you'll have to download. I see that Paul Espisito is the Electrical sub code official. I don't know if he's the same fella, but one of their bright lights insisted we run a neutral for a 3-phase fire pump, in addition to the EGC, despite the fact there was no where to land it in the controller.
