I doubt that that it is much different than taking any other tests. if you can, talk to people who have taken the test recently. there might be some newish wrinkles.

As for studying, there are plenty of study guides but most of them focus on the material the test covers and really the key to doing well on tests is to learn how to take tests. Find out how it is scored. Adjust your test taking strategy accordingly. If possible, scan through the questions first without answering any of them so you can get a feel for them and start thinking about them in the back of your head while you answer the easy ones. Some tests penalize guessing while others don't.

Don't sweat the grade either. If you need 75% to pass, you will pass if you get 75% or 99%. There is no real benefit to do better on the test than mere passing. It does not make you a better electrician, only gives you some bragging rights that few people will care about.

get a good nights sleep. Don't drink a lot before the test. the last thing you need is to be taking a test while really wanting to get done so you can get to the men's room.

use whatever resources are allowed. if they allow code books use them. if they allow calculators it makes no sense to do the calculations in your head or on paper. most tests allow you to have scratch paper. use the scratch paper to your advantage. sketch out things that may not be real obvious to help you get the best answer.

the night before try to do something outside of studying -- if you don't know it by then you're in trouble so relaxing will help

Start at article 110 and READ the NEC every night leading up to the test for 1/2 hour. When the NEC says "per section ...." go read that section. When a definition or term is unfamiliar, go look it up in the NEC. This will naturally train you to "look it up" as you will need to for your test.

Do not read more than 1/2 an hour a day. Do not study or read the night before the test. Do not focus on calculations, they are only a small portion of the overall test.

When testing, READ the question, ANSWER the question, IGNORE additional and unnecessary information.

No heavy meals the night before or the morning of, no drinking the night before or while studying, get a full nights sleep!

Good luck!
