Hey guys, I'm gearing up to take my Journeyman electrical exam in the state of Maryland. Just wondering if you had any tips or even know any good books that might help me study while I prepare. I have a ton of Mike Holt material given to me by my school, but I feel like I need a bit more. I spotted this book online by Tom Henry figured I give it a try, but I also want something that will focus on a local level (MD state) and not so much the national level. Any suggestions?

IMO, It does not matter which material you study. If you know your theory and know how to efficiently navigate the current code book, you can take any exam local or national and pass it with flying colors.

Curious, what was it that made you choose Tom Henry's book?

I agree with Edward, most of the reference books except the code book, I took into tests remained closed. I did use Ugly's. Get your tabs in place if they let you use them, start taking practice exams until you are hitting at least 85%. Take the same test, or group of tests over and over. Your preparation and dedication will pay off. Mike Holt's practice material is what I used, found it valuable every masters or journeyman test I ever took.

Thank you, and no specific reason I just googled " journeyman electrician test maryland" and his material came up. Any other books you recommend besides this and Mike Holt? I also wanted to take a prep course but they are very expensive. Ive been in school for the past 4 years so I feel like that more than enough prep

The exams always ask off the wall questions, but after going through the course material, you understand how to navigate the code book, look for key words in the question to look up in the glossary.

Thanks, what Mike Holt books in particular ? I ask because I have alot from school.
