I am getting to run a new feeder conduit about 470 feet the biggest chunk of the conduit is outside it will have two sweeping 90 on the outside. Then when it enters into the building i will set a pull box. My question is that they are telling me that I need to set pull boxes every 100 feet is this true are false, the feeder wire is 13.2 kv going in a 4 inch conduit.

Per the NEC you only need a pull box or pull point (opening) at 360? of bends, so the answer is no for 180? of bends.

If it is a job specification it is a different story.

I regularly hear the mysterious 100' rule, but there isn't one in the NEC. When pulling medium voltage cables, pulling tensions and sidewall pressure determine how long a pull can be, often the 360 degree rule doesn't work.

junction boxes

Hey guy thank you for the information I knew that I did not see anything about it but i need a second answer.

moved where?

moved where?

I've had this happen a few times before...I start reading a topic and find it interesting and then it says it's been moved and can be continued in another section, but where???Thanks

It's been moved to here where you found it. :)

It was originally posted in the Electrical Instructors forum Steve moved it to here in the NEC forum.

I see this a pull box every 100ft rule alot of tiimes in specs also. What in the world are the engineers thinking??? I really think they are talking about branch circuits and not feeders. Why would you want a box at 100ft for a feeder?? Seems to me like the feeder is meant to go and feed one determined load.
