Junction Boxes

I have a 36"X24"x6" junction box that will serve as a raceway to locate 126 #10THHN conducters from a box with outlets installed to a an 42 circuit electrical panel. The wire at the longest point will be around 26" for 63 conductors and shorter for the other 63. I understand that if this is a wireway and we don't fill past 20% and the conductors are 24" or less that we do not have to derate. Now that it is a junction box do we just make sure that the 2.5 CU IN per conductor is followed and the 26" conductors that enter through one close nipple and exit through another close nipple are OK???

Thanks,

Yes, a junction box is not a raceway so the wireway requirement will not apply. Even if you had bundling issues (more than 24") it's likely that 310.15(A)(2)Ex {2008} would apply.

Welcome to the forum.:)

This would be a junction box and the box fill calculations of 314.16 would apply. No ampacity adjustments are required for a junction box.
