What is the benefit of using low voltage cans over high voltage ones. The GU10 bulbs that are use for 120 volts look the same as the MR 16 bulbs.
I've puzzled on that myself from time to time. Architects and lighting designers seem to favor these for some reason. The GU10 lamps are about 10 bucks a piece for a decent brand, which is a drawback. I guess one benefit is that they push the bill, and the associated profit, higher.

EDIT... If you feel the need to use these little wee things, the 120V MR16's are about the cheapest way to go all around when you balance both lamp cost and fixture cost.
